Today is when Shivaay would be actually playing to its potential in theatres. Right through the weekend, it had to compete with quite a few factors, the biggest of them all being the fact that his massy film was actually not quite grabbed by masses all over, courtesy the pre-Diwali season. He has a good hold amongst audiences, especially in Central and North India and while in pockets his film was being lapped up, there were still certain centres where an escalation in collections was on the cards.
Well, that should happen now since Monday is an all-India holiday and hence those who haven't watched the film so far due to festivities would be stepping in with good numbers. In fair value terms, Monday for Shivaay is like what it would have been on Friday. So in that aspect one can well assume that if not for the pre-Diwali people, the numbers that the film would fetch today is what it would have registered had it opened on a regular Friday.
So far, the film has Rs. 28.56 crore [Friday: Rs. 10.24 crore, Saturday: Rs. 10.06 crore, Sunday: Rs. 8.26 crore]. However, what matters now is the big jump that the film should collect today. If that happens and then collections stay stable right through the weekdays, the film has an opportunity to come up with a respectable total.
