Tiger Shroff's Munna Michael needed a big jump on Saturday so that it is set for an even better Sunday. It was going to be tough though since the Sabbir Khan directed film is a kind of affair that actually depends on a very good opening from day one audiences, rather than word of mouth making it bigger over the weekend. Hence, all eyes were on whether the turnaround would indeed take place on Saturday.
Well, that didn't quite happen as Saturday numbers came to Rs. 6.32 crore. For the weekend to be hefty, Munna Michael needed a double digit number on Saturday or at least come close to Rs. 10 crore. However, the numbers are yet to hit even that mark that should ideally have been Friday collections.
Though the film's reviews weren't anything spectacular, there were hopes that audiences at the single screens would take it forward to some extent. Yes, there are better numbers from non-multiplex properties but still they haven't really hit the roof and that's reflecting in the overall traction that Munna Michael is gaining.
The film has collected Rs. 12.97 crore so far and while a Rs. 20 crore weekend is easily for the taking, it would still fall short of Sachin - A Billion Dreams weekend [Rs. 28.05 crore] which tells the tale.
On the other hand Lipstick Under My Burkha has thrown a small little surprise. The film grew further on Saturday and now has collected Rs. 3.39 crore in two days. That is a fine number especially considering the fact that it has released on just 400 screens and is a niche affair. For a film with no stars in there, this one should manage to break even in its first week itself.
