After all the euphoria around Baahubali 2 which has engulfed Bollywood during last few weeks, it is time for fresh content to arrive in theaters. The films in question are Sarkar 3 and Meri Pyaari Bindu and on the face of it, both indicate good enough merits to catch people attention if the end result turns out to be interesting as well.
Let's start with Sarkar 3. The film is a follow up to Amitabh Bachchan and Ram Gopal Varma combo that heated up the scene in Sarkar and Sarkar Raj. While former was a decent success, latter too turned out to be a fair affair. Though latter collected more, expectations were much higher since entire Bachchan family (Amitabh, Abhishek, Aishwarya) came together in this. It has been a huge gap though between Sarkr Raj [2008] and Sarkar 3 [2017] due to which it has taken time for the brand to be re-established all over again. Moreover, the film was further pushed by around a month for its theatrical release.
The film is the newest Amitabh Bachchan outing after Pink [Rs. 4.32] and now Sarkar 3, which has him as the central protagonist, is expected to take an opening in the same range [Rs. 4-5 crore].
Meri Pyaari Bindu has seen a new style of promotion and that has pretty much set it as a quintessential multiplex film. Thankfully, it is looking better than the likes of OK Jaanu. Still, that film did manage to take some sort of an opening [Rs. 4.08 crore] since Shraddha Kapoor was leading from the front and producer Karan Johar was marketing it fairly well for its genre and content. Now Yash Raj Films has actually done well too by means of marketing and though Ayushmann Khurranna did have a good success with his last release Dum Laga Ke Haisha, this one would again be a sort of new start for him with Parineeti Chopra.
The film is seeing a controlled release for itself and with Baahubali 2 [Hindi] still going strong and Sarkar 3 as competition too, it should be taking an opening in the range of Rs. 2-3 crore on Friday.
