Pad Man stayed stable on Monday as it collected Rs. 5.87 crore (approx). This was needed for the film to collect between Rs. 60-65 crore at the end of its first week. Currently standing at Rs. 45.92 crore, the film is well on track to get into that zone and from there it would boil down to how it stays on once Aiyaary releases on the coming Friday.
A social film dealing with sanitary hygiene, Pad Man has covered this kind of distance too due to Akshay Kumar running the show. It is to the credit of the superstar that there has been nationwide awareness around the subject which is expected to result in better hygiene for women. Of course more the footfalls that the film gains, better it would be spread knowledge around the subject which is considered as a taboo in large parts of the society.
From the returns perspective, the film is doing fine since it has been made at a very low cost (around Rs. 20 crore) and returns from various avenues (satellite, digital, music etc.) have more than just covered the moolah that has been spent. Whatever comes from theatrical (both India and overseas) is an added bonus that should help all those who have invested in it bring home a good share.
