Munna Michael has taken a below par opening at the Box Office. It was expected that the film would take a double digit opening, considering the fact that Tiger Shroff and Sabbir Khan have been a good combination [Heropanti, Baaghi]. Moreover, the film was promoted quite well too by the makers [Eros, Viki Rajani] and the release was pretty well spread out as well [3000 screens]. It also seemed that audiences would be suitably enticed into checking out what does the combo of Tiger Shroff and Nawazuddin Siddiqui has to offer.
Hence, at the bare minimum Rs. 8 crore opening was on the cards and Rs. 10 crore was a possibility that seemed to be in the offering. Alas, this didn't quite happen as the film just couldn’t see the kind of opening that would have taken it anywhere close to this number. Though it was expected that multiplexes would gain primarily from word of mouth, at least at the single screens it had seemed that certain properties would have a good occupancy. However, with footfalls not really rising during the course of the day and the overall response staying on to be lukewarm, the collections came to just about Rs. 6.65 crore.
For a film like Munna Michael this is just not the kind of start that was expected since there are good production values attached to it, especially when it comes to the dance and action sequences. The film has been made for big screen entertainment and hence if at all the film has to arrive at a good weekend number, the collections would need to jump at least 50% today and then a very positive trending would be required for a hefty Sunday.
