Times are changing! Most producers are giving a lot of thought, a lot of emphasis on releasing their films on an appropriate date. For, after all, making a qualitative product is important, but ensuring that it gets the right release is most important these days. After all, the stakes are so high these days.

While the rumors of SINGH IS KINNG getting postponed [since Akshay's dubbing is still pending] has been refuted by Vipul Shah, there's talk that Ramgopal Varma's CONTRACT might be pushed to August for a different reason completely. Reportedly, RGV's advisors feel that clashing with a feel-good film like KISMAT KONNECTION on July 18 would hamper the prospects of CONTRACT.

"I am not bothered," RGV tells me, "In my earlier years, when I was just an avid moviegoer, I would go by my instinct. If a film excited me, I would rush to a nearby theatre. If not, I would ignore it completely. If the audiences find CONTRACT exciting, they would go for it, irrespective of how strong the opponent is."

He also makes a valid point on this topic, "Both, SHIVA and JAMES were solo releases. But even the solo status couldn't save them from sinking. A good film works. Period!" That's true!
