White Feather Films sued… Again! Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Subhash K. Jha, June 26, 2007 - 05:57 IST

After the real-life Maya Dolas' mother took offence to the way she had been portrayed in Shootout At Lokhandwala it's another real-life mother Kulbir Kaur who has sent producer Sanjay Gupta a legal notice questioning what Gupta thinks is his creative freedom
The legal notice prompted by the report in a leading newspaper about the Bipasha Basu art house film Pankh, questions White Feather on the plot about a child actor growing up in androgynous ambiguity being inspired by the life of the child actor Ehsaas Channa, a.k.a Ashish Channa.

Says Gupta, "The kid's mother Kuldip Kaur wants to know why we've borrowed her son's life. All I can say is wait till Pankh is ready and the truth to be out. Since it’s our company's first art house film and also Bipasha's first experimental film Pankh is a very prestigious project for us. After the success of Shootout At Lokhandwala , White Feather wants to do more reality-driven films. Pankh is one of them. We also have Alibaug which is more than partially inspired by my own life"
