‘Umrao Jaan’ to clash with ‘Don’, Dhoom 2’

Now add J.P. Dutta’s UMRAO JAAN to the list of Diwali/Idd releases this year. Yes, J.P. has decided to brave the strong oppositions [DON, DHOOM 2] and release his Abhishek Bachchan – Aishwarya Rai starrer on October 20.
“You cannot take UMRAO JAAN away from the Idd week. It’s the ideal release period for my film,” J.P. tells me, justifying his decision of October 20, “I can release my film before October 20. I completed filming UMRAO JAAN in the first week of April. I am also through with its dubbing and background music. I am sitting ready, believe me. But October 20 is the most appropriate date for UMRAO JAAN and I am in no mood to budge from this date.”
There are two major oppositions on October 20. “I am aware of those films. But I have never believed in competing with others. I make my films and leave the rest to the paying public. All this talk of competition doesn’t affect me,” J.P. adds.
